I have and and I think it is even MORE POORLY MANAGED than the 12/VD store used to be. It reminds me of Super Kmart. No one there knows what the heck they are doing.
And they have taken a VERY HARD LINE on returns. Get ready to ship that vacuum cleaner back to the manufacturer!!!
I also predict this will cause more BLIGHT in our community. No only does having a Walmart SuperCenter in our community virtually GUARANTEE that our wages here will go down 5% or more (like we can afford MORE???)
Does anyone know what will happen to that HUGE WASTE OF SPACE at 12 mile and VanDyke? Everyone else there will leave, and it will become VERY DIFFICULT, if not impossible to protect and maintain.
Let me know if YOU have heard anything.
Considering that Warren (and Macomb County) Michigan has been in the news as "ground zero" of the "Michigan Recession", I doubt there are a bunch of retailers in line to take that space.

Wal-Mart's empty stores are blighting communities
As of May 2006, Wal-Mart Realty has listed 320 vacant or soon to be vacant properties that the company is looking to lease or sell. They total to over 25 million square feet. When Wal-Mart decides to convert a discount store into a larger Supercenter, it is often cheaper or easier simply to relocate entirely. David Brennan, associate professor of marketing at the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, Minn, noted that Wal-Mart stores relocate so regularly that, "it is not uncommon to relocate right across the street." Also Wal-Mart often resists other large retail stores moving in. A president of a major real estate developer in Dallas said in 2002, "They're not going to be very receptive to any retailer going into it and even if they sell it, they might put a non- compete clause in there." As one Wal-Mart spokesperson said in 2004, "There are times when it's in our interest to get the property moving faster, but we're certainly not going to give a competitor an advantage." Thats just par for course that Walmart stores have been doing everywhere they expand and leave a building vacant. Can anybody guess how much money got spent in just the cost of utilities like electric,water,sanatary, and storm drains that is now not being used. I hope the cities who are getting burned by Walmart can back charge them for all the improvements done.
They not only cannot "back charge" them, they usually recieve considerable tax breaks from the state, federal and local governments for their expansion. Even when the citizens and city councils resist Walmarts coming to their community, they have already been granted subsidies by the politicians in their districts. I guess when you have a bigger GPA than SWEDEN, it give you some leverage!! That is why I just can't take Republicans or Democrats seriously. Regardless of what their constituents want, they are ALL bought and paid for by BIG BUSINESS and many of them have even been paid by lobbyists from FOREIGN COUNTRIES to advance their interests in the USA.
Made the mistake to go to 14 mile store to buy tires. Waited 3 hours to have TOTALLY INCOMPETENT and LAZY employees put tires on my car. Entire garage staff LEFT to take OVER AN HOUR lunch break AFTER they put my car up on hoist. Improperly inflated, and had to take to another shop to have them balanced. Place I took them to told me that tires were NEVER BALANCED to begin with but Walmart charged me $5 per tire for this service. I was lucky because there was a VERY pregnant woman waiting for over an hour before I even got there. Her husband finally came there and confronted manager - who did NOTHING. I Filed complaint with BBB.
